Department for Children Schools and Families (DCSF)
Profile
DCSF - The Department for Children, Schools and Families commissioned us to
produce a video which would help children, young people, teachers and parents
to understand the impact that bullying has on children with special educational
needs and disabilities. They wanted the video to help prevent and tackle bullying
behavior and to assist teachers and parents deal with this behaviour, should
it occur.
Project
This video was launched at the 2008 National Anti Bullying Week launch by
Rt Hon Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families and Baroness
Delyth Morgan, Parliamentary Under Secretary. Following the launch of the video,
Take One Productions are working with DCSF to develop the project to produce
a Teachers Resource Pack consisting of a 'teachers notes' booklet and DVD containing
the main programme, along with various chapters. To view the video and chapters

here. The chapters feature interviews with 'key players' from the programme,
as well as interviews with disabled and SEN children who have experience of
being bullied. Teachers who have successfully dealt with bullying are also included.
This Teacher Resource Pack will be available to schools throughout England and
Wales and will be shown to children in assemblies and classrooms.
Take One Productions produced the realistic drama entitled 'Make them go away'
in a gritty style with a "filmic" look to appeal to the young audience.
The programme is set to a moving, specially written music track about bullying.
Nick Webber, Head of Production at Take One says "When we film in schools
and colleges, whenever possible, we like to try and make it a positive educational
experience. On this project we worked with teachers and featured school drama
students in the programme. You never know how the children could be influenced
by the experience, or what doors it might open."
DCSF Feedback
"Our experience of working with Take One Production was very very positive.
The Take One Production team worked with the Department and our steering group
to create a story line for the 'Make them go away' DVD, which met the Department's
objectives. The design and quality of the DVD was excellent. The professional
support we received from Nick Webber and his team meant that we launched our
DVD to a very tight deadline and met the Department's objectives".
