Thumbs up to Biometrics! To communicate the simplicity and effectiveness of finger scanning as part of the UK visa applications process, UKvisas, part of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, commissioned Take One Productions to produce a short DVD. Filmed in Copenhagen, its aims were to:
Did it do the trick? Take One's client at UKvisas was interviewed by a journalist and answered her questions in one take! Q. How easy was it for you to communicate with Take One Productions through the production stages of the video? Take One Productions were very flexible. This was the first time that this kind of project had been commissioned by us and I am not sure that another company could have got the same results for us. Take One flagged up all of the key points for our consideration. They talked us through the project. Nick the project manager was very responsive and if he was out of the office at the time of our call he always came back to us promptly. This made a big difference to us. Although we did not realise it at the time, we were unrealistic in the timescales that we had placed upon the start and completion of the project - quite ambitious in fact. We had expected to brief the production company in January and have the project finished by mid-February. Take One were very accommodating and always suggesting ways in which we could achieve the timescales. Q. Were you given enough approval time? Plenty of time was given to approve the project at each stage. The team in London suggested a presenter led production. To help us to choose a presenter Take One gave us clips to study of various presenters and their styles so we could look at them beforehand and work out what suited our target audience. The presenter was great. In fact she gets across all of our key messages. So much so that we have extended the use of the DVD and we are now using it for our training courses. Instead of a trainer having to explain in front of a classroom we use the DVD and it answers many of the questions that our delegates have. Back to approvals... because so many people here were involved in the decision-making process, Take One made it much easier. Q. How did you find working with Take One Productions at the Visa Office in Copenhagen when the DVD was being filmed? When shooting began in Copenhagen, the Take One Production team was very, very professional. I was there with them, and what really stood out was the amount of time that they dedicated, explaining patiently to everyone what they were doing and why. They spent time with the staff putting them at ease and ensuring they were happy with their lines. They were really good here. They also gave us plenty of useful tips for filming in the future. I can take the knowledge that Take One gave us and apply it to future projects. Q. Are you happy with the final product? We are very happy. The DVD has been distributed to our overseas network of 163 offices. They have all got copies and it has been watched by all of their visa staff. It's also been used for training and it will be used in waiting rooms. We will look at different language versions in the future. We had never considered web streaming but Take One Productions made suggestions for the future. We have a new outsourced contract overseas and they are looking at web hosting some of the clips from the DVD so the advice from Take One Productions has been really positive. Q. Would you work with Take One Productions again? Absolutely. We would ask them to tender and we would regard them as a supplier of choice due to their experience and their invaluable help in realising this project and making it so successful. |
