The Animal & Plant Health Agency
Profile
The government’s Animal & Plant Health Agency (APHA) initiated a project to enhance recruitment of veterinary surgeons into the Agency. As well as producing promotional literature, online advertising and a social media campaign, the APHA wanted to create a series of short microfilms that could be used on a number of social media platforms, with a view to ‘connecting’ veterinary practitioners from the private sector with the broad and interesting day to day work of APHA vets.
Project
Following an APHA procurement exercise, we were pleased to be awarded the contract to produce a series of six short microfilms – each approximately 50 seconds long.
The client wanted to feature a different APHA vet in each of the six videos. They were to appear in real-life settings, delivering an upbeat verbal message about their particular role, its variety and interest – with a final ‘Join Us’ call to arms.
Following an online audition process with our Producer and Script Writer, six vets were selected. The videos were filmed over a four day period at the Veterinary Laboratories in Weybridge and the Animal Reception Centre at Heathrow. A range of scenes were filmed on-farm, in the laboratories, offices and even included a post mortem examination.
Nick Webber, Head of Production at Take One Productions, says “The timescales were quite challenging. We had 5 weeks from the initial briefing meeting to audition the vets, research and write the scripts, plan and carry out the filming and edit the six programmes. The great lines of communication from the client, along with the practical support they provided in setting up the various locations enabled us to complete the project ahead of schedule”.
Client feedback
“Take One Productions gave us confidence that together we could make this project a success, despite the challenging timelines. Their positive attitude, excellent planning and openness to work with us as a combined team were paramount to achieving our goal.
The videos have surpassed expectations and brought tears of joy and pride to our staff. They deliver a strong and effective message. Feedback from colleagues across APHA has been 100% positive – fantastic videos that showcase the interesting jobs we offer.”
