We are delighted to have been working with J T Mackley & Co Ltd and the Environment Agency on the Medmerry Managed Realignment Scheme. We used two cameras to film time lapse coverage of the new sea defence which has been built inland between Selsey and Bracklesham in West Sussex. Below is a short video that shows the ‘highlights’ of the final stages of the project.
In early September at low tide, the shingle bank was removed and as the tide rose, the sea was allowed into the newly created wildlife habitat. The scheme will greatly improve the standard of flood protection for over 300 homes, the water treatment works and the main road into Selsey. It has also created an important new wildlife habitat and opened up new footpaths, cycle-ways and bridleways.
